The Wimborne Cup was successfully launched at this year's Folk Festival. The iconic design certainly caught the eye, with many people buying the cup as a memento of the Festival. 11 pubs and one brewery took part and sold most of the 8,500 cups ordered. The good news is that. anecdotally, there was much less plastic litter in the streets.
Linda Bunting, Director of Planet Wimborne and Wimborne War on Waste said, "We were delighted to see so many people with the Wimborne Cup at the Folk Festival and to see so much less litter in the streets also shows the success of the scheme."
The Bring Your Own message also seems to have been heeded with many people bringing their own festival cups to the Festival.
Neil Smith, Director of Planet Wimborne said, "It was a lot of hard work to get to this point and well worth it in the end. We're now seeking feedback from the pubs about the scheme so we can learn any lessons for other festivals and events in the town. We certainly hope the cup and 'bring your own' message will be part of the upcoming Food Festival in September."
