'When Less is More' with Patrick Grant - ALL TICKETS SOLD

'When Less is More' is a Planet Wimborne Green Festival event with Patrick Grant from the hit BBC series, The Great British Sewing Bee, on Saturday 18th October at Queen Elizabeth School, Wimborne.

About Patrick
Patrick has a lot to say about clothes: how many we buy, how we value them, what they’re made from, and importantly who made them and where. He’s an outspoken advocate for radical change in the fashion and clothing industry, for moving beyond sustainable to circular and regenerative. During his 20-year career in fashion, he has rebuilt Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons, revived E. Tautz for which he won Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, and worked with some of the world’s best-known brands. In 2015, he bought the ailing Blackburn clothing manufacturer Cookson & Clegg, saving the 160-year-old business from closure. In 2016, he set up Community Clothing to support ethical clothing manufacturing practices.

Patrick is a regular on TV and radio, and has been a key figure on The Great British Sewing Bee since its first series in 2013. He won Celebrity Mastermind and The Weakest Link, but didn’t fare as well in Masterchef. He currently writes regular columns for The Financial Times and House and Home, and is an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, a charity which supports educational activities for people of all ages across the UK.

The venue
The school is within walking and cycling distance of Wimborne town centre, from where bus services (MoreBus) 3, 4, 6 & 13 connect to Poole and Bournemouth. There is ample parking, including accessible parking, and the hall is accessible. There are toilets and accessible toilets in the school.
Doors open at 4.15pm for refreshments, and the opportunity to browse stalls, talk to local green groups and buy a copy of Patrick’s latest book, Less. His talk – encouraging us to have fewer, better things and be happier in the process – will start at 5pm. No sewing or judging will be involved!
