Trees for Wimborne considers that it is important that our town plays its part in contributing towards the need for more trees across Britain. We would like to see an increase in tree numbers with the aim of attaining a minimum of 20 % canopy cover in Wimborne and the surrounding areas. We believe that these trees will create multiple benefits: mitigation against climate change, provision of habitats for wildlife, a more interesting landscape reflecting the changing seasons, and as a joy and comfort for those who live, work and visit Wimborne. As such, we will adhere to the principle of the “Right Tree for the Right Place” to ensure that the trees thrive and are appropriate and welcomed in their location. We recognise that this change in the townscape and surrounding landscape will not be immediate, rather, time will be needed to grow consensus and support and find ways and means to implement this vision.

Upcoming events
It is important to remove old tree guards as they pollute the environment with broken plastic and prevent normal development of the trees.
Please join Trees For Wimborne to remove tree guards and add mulch around newly planted trees at the Dogdean SANG on Saturday 14th February
Sunday 2nd March 10am.
See the map about this event for the meeting place.
