Following Litter Free Dorset's campaign and the devastating heath fires of 2022, Southern Co-op committed to permanently removing disposable BBQs from sale - and they now have 8000 surplus units in storage. To ensure that we find the best route for this stock, Litter Free Dorset and Dorset Council are working with W&S Recycling to repurpose/reuse the component parts and send a message to other retailers that they too should be making this move.

1. Prevent food waste at source by storing food optimally, making use of every edible part of the ingredient and planning meals ahead of time
2. Inspire others to waste less, and repurpose more
3. Repurpose food by redistributing any surplus to your local community, or giving a second life to ingredients that most commonly go to waste

The theme for 2025 is "Buy Loose, Waste Less".
Research shows that selling items loose (unpackaged), so that people can buy just the amount they need, is an effective way to reduce household food waste.

No disposable cup day -  If we can stop using disposable cups for even one day then we will save the planet from the destruction caused by more than  1 billion used cups entering landfills Worldwide every month!

We have 4 times more cafes in the UK as there were in 2000. Branded coffee shops have grown from around 600 to nearly 7500 outlets.

Recycling or compostable cups are not the answer! STOPPING is the answer!
