Volunteer Day - Breaking Down Disposable Barbecues

Following Litter Free Dorset's campaign and the devastating heath fires of 2022, Southern Co-op committed to permanently removing disposable BBQs from sale - and they now have 8000 surplus units in storage. To ensure that we find the best route for this stock, Litter Free Dorset and Dorset Council are working with W&S Recycling to repurpose/reuse the component parts and send a message to other retailers that they too should be making this move.

SWISH - Swap don't Shop!

Do you have clothes in your wardrobe you've worn once and may never wear again? That outfit you bought that's now collecting dust? Would you love some different clothes in your wardrobe but care about sustainable fashion? Do you fancy a night out with your friends? Then this is the perfect evening for you!

This is a fun clothes swap event where you donate good quality clothes you no longer need and come away with a new outfit. If you would like to contribute a small donation of £3 towards refreshments, this can be payable on the night. Brilliant!

650 Saplings planted in Wimborne SANGs

This winter by the end of March,  Trees for Wimborne, a subgroup of Wilding Wimborne, will have planted 650 trees in the Dogdean and Stourview SANGs of Wimborne.  Most were provided by the Woodland Trust, some bought thanks to funding by Dorset Council and the Dorset Community Foundation and some provided by individuals. Then, over the winter, fifty or so volunteers have prepared the ground, planted and continued to care for the saplings, so furthering Trees for Wimborne’s vision for increasing the tree cover in the area.

Tree Planting - Stourview

Join the Tree Champions of ‘Trees for Wimborne’ and be part of this great initiative for the local environment
You could do some tree planting at one of their tree planting sessions in March.  Bring a trowel and gloves – if you have them- and some shears and secateurs. They will provide some tools if you don’t have them.
Sunday 26 March at the Riverside area of Stourview SANG.  Meet at the Brook Road end at 10.30am.

Plant Swap @ Walford Mill

Wilding Wimborne is partnering with Walford Mill to bring you a plant-swap opportunity.  We all tend to plant too many seeds and wonder what to do with the extra that germinate.  Or we split an established plant and don't want to throw away the spare root.

Come to Walford Mill and take advantage of the plants on offer:  you can leave any plants that you don't need and take some that you do!
