Mayoral Walks Around Wimborne Minster

Wimborne Minster Town Council is excited to introduce a new initiative:  Monthly Mayoral Walks!

These walks will be an informative journey through the history and culture of our beautiful town, led by local experts. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Wimborne Minster, meet new people, and enjoy a relaxed morning stroll.

The walks are free of charge. However, donations to the Mayor’s Fund would be greatly appreciated.  This year, donations go to Planet Wimborne and The Friends of Victoria Hospital.

Dacombes goes green(er) on its zero carbon journey

Wimborne’s oldest independent home electronics store, Dacombes (https://www.dacombesofwimborne.com/), is now harnessing the newest technology, with solar energy powering its extensive array of domestic appliances and home cinemas in its Dorset showroom. Matt Renaut, Dacombes’ Managing Director, noted the significant electricity demand of their operations, likening it to ‘three kettles on the boil all day long.’

Wimborne Allotment Association

Wimborne Allotment Association

Wimborne Allotment Association is a non-profit making Association, set up to promote and protect allotments in Wimborne. We welcome members from any of the allotment sites in Wimborne. We offer members discounts on seeds, and provide opportunities to socialise, and attend visits and speaker events. The Association is aware of the part we can all play in protecting our environment, and maintaining our soil by using sustainable and regenerative methods of growing. We want to encourage our members with information and new ideas to help us adapt to our changing  climate.

Reusable Nappy Week 2024

The aim is to spread the reusable word far and wide to as many people as possible! Our theme this year is One Change - Big Difference, with the idea that parents can choose to reuse and affect more  than just their rubbish bin. With the help of incentive schemes and eco advocates, we can make a real difference; not only for this Reusable Nappy Week, but every day for the future.

Getting around better - BCP and Dorset Councils call for residents' views on transport

BCP and Dorset Councils are calling on residents to let them know what a more sustainable transport future should look like.  The joint consultation started on 22nd January and closes on 3rd March 2024.  You can find the survey here: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/local-transport-plan/local-transport-plan-4.

The new joint Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) will set out the long-term goals, strategy, and policies for improving transport for everyone over the next 10-15 years.

Wimborne Swifts

Wimborne Swifts

Swifts have always been a feature in our skies above Wimborne. Their distinctive screams as they zip around the Minster, across the square and neighbouring streets, but their numbers have dwindled and they NEED OUR HELP.
